Step 1: Empathize. What is the problem?
Global Impact builds partnerships and raises resources that help the world’s most vulnerable people, including campaign design and software solutions for fundraising campaigns.
Step 2: Define. Deeply understanding the problem.
Over the course of a year, I assisted our software team in the creation of over 40 customized giving campaigns, including the logo design & sub-branding of a highly-promoted, select group of funds.
Step 3: Ideate. How can we solve the problem?
Our team created a custom fundraising app to launch these campaigns. There are many challenges when building custom apps, but the level of customization and scalability you get back is highly valuable. We had to decide how to edit campaigns on the fly, how to change out branding variables per campaign, and keep the servers humming and the asset delivery happy for the end user.
Step 4: Prototype. Show an MVP than can solve the problem.
In addition to connecting to a powerful payment gateway, we added a handful of fundraising features during the year, and I was responsible for the overall product feel and design of the application.
Step 5: Test. Do real users feel like this would solve the problem?
We raised over $200,000 in donations for notable charities at work around the world through our app in 1 year.
